Cats are about to be licenced in Colorado Springs, USA if the City Council gets it’s way.
From the 1st January cat owners will have to buy an annual licence for their cats - $12 for neutered animals and $25 for un-neutered. The fee is discounted for the over 65s. The scheme is expected to raise $50,000 a year for the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region to use the money to trap and neuter feral cats.
As an outsider looking in, it seems to me that this is just another tax by a different name. The cat owners are not getting any service for this money.
